My Discovery of Charuca

While Charuca's illustrations are cute, I never saw any of them until researching for this shrine. I was only aware of her minifigure line. In 2010 Charuca released a line of 8 vinyl figures, each around 3" tall. These were seemingly sold on her online store at the time, but that's not where I found them. As a child my parents took me and my sibling to the east coast of England, to a small seaside town called Mablethorpe. Every other night we were allowed to go to the funfair and the strip of arcades. I loved trying to win plushies in the cranes, and winning small keychains and trinkets from the coin pusher machines. During one summer between 2010-2012 when I, would have been 12-14 years old, a couple of the arcades had these Charuca minifigures inside as prizes. I instantly loved them and wanted the whole set, but sadly despite putting a lot of 2-pennies into the machines, I only ever won one figure, a girl in pink holding hands with a little cat. I remember espeically wanted the bunny hood girl and being so sad I hadn't won her. When we went back the next year the figures were no longer avilable in the machines. Then in 2014 while on holiday with my family in Hunstanton, England, we walked past an RSPCA charity shop and in the window display there was a Charuca figure, the little devil baby, and I excitedly bought him. I always wanted the other figures, but didn't think about them again for a while. I once searched the words on the back of the figures "Charuca Yolanda" and found photos of the other figures, but Charuca's website and artwork never came up. It wasn't until making my neocities account in June 2024 when thinking of what shrines to make I instantly new I wanted to make a shrine about these figures, and it wasn't until starting to make the shrine I found all the other illustrations and merchandise Charuca had made. In all honsetly, I think her artwork is cute but doesn't interested me a lot. I don't find myself heavily in love with her illustrations or any of her other merchandise, for some reason it's just this figure collection that has my heart in such a strong hold. I hope one day to collect the rest of the figure line.
